Following its first outing in May, the third programme of the Before Bach and After series will next visit St Mary's Cathedral in Limerick in partnership with Lime Tree Theatre, and St Fin Barre's Cathedral in Cork as part of the Cork International Choral Festival.
This thrilling programme alternates two Bach motets, a cantata and a fugue with contemporary works by Julia Wolfe, Santa Ratniece and Anne Boyd as well as a vocal re-working of Bach's Fuga V, shifting the focus of the texts and indeed the musical inspiration significantly beyond and away from the Western tradition.
