Chamber Choir Ireland is seeking interested individuals to share their skills with our organisation, embracing the culture of creativity and development within the organisation, and is welcoming expressions of interest to join the voluntary Board of Directors.
With a history stretching back to the RTÉ Chamber Choir, Chamber Choir Ireland is the country’s national chamber choir and flagship choral ensemble under the artistic direction of the internationally renowned and multi-award-winning conductor, Paul Hillier. The 16-voice professional choir offers compelling performances, recordings and broadcasts throughout the island of Ireland and internationally, and runs an island-wide, multi-faceted learning and participation programme for all ages. The breadth of its work has expanded significantly in recent years and the company looks forward to continued development over the next 3 years.
Chamber Choir Ireland is a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) with charitable status and is managed by a 3-strong Executive team. Principal funding is received from the Arts Council / an Chomhairle Ealaíon together with additional funds from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, National Lottery Funds and Dublin City Council.
We seek to ensure a balanced and appropriate skill and competency mix on the Board as well as ensuring the highest level of good governance throughout the company’s work.
We welcome expressions of interest from suitably qualified candidates in one or more of the following areas:
- Legal / HR
- Marketing / PR
- Finance / Accounting
- General Arts Sector
• Knowledge about and interest in the work of Chamber Choir Ireland
• An interest and understanding of the classical music sector in Ireland and/or the not-for-profit Arts sector in general.
• Previous Board experience in the not-for-profit sector
Term and Rules of Rotation:
Each Director shall hold office for a maximum period of four years and, upon his application and with the approval of the remainder of the Board by a simple majority, he may hold office for a further period of one year. Each Director may continue to hold office as Director for a second period of one year upon his further application during the first additional period with the approval of the remainder of the Board by a simple majority.
At the AGM one-third of the Directors shall retire from office. A retiring Director shall be eligible for re-election.
Board Meetings: The board meets 6 times per year and these generally take place at the end of a working day, Monday – Friday. There are several Board sub-committees which Directors are invited to join and which meet by mutual agreement.
