The music of Arvo Pärt is as wide-reaching as it is diverse, from the iconic instrumental Spiegel im Spiegel and Fratres to the vast array of sacred choral works. While travel restrictions prevent many of our singers and our Artistic Director from being with us for this performance, we are delighted to welcome David Brophy to direct this performance. CCI Artistic Director, Paul Hillier, a long-standing collaborator with Arvo Pärt has curated a tapestry of his shorter choral works for this series including the very moving The Deer’s Cry. Interspersed is a nod to Charles Villiers Stanford, and a trip back to the renaissance with Robert Fayrfax.
We are delighted to partner with the National Concert Hall to present this concert in the NCH Classical Livestream series and share the digital concert platform over the series with our colleagues in Irish Baroque Orchestra, Irish Chamber Orchestra, and Irish National Opera as well as a host of Irish soloists.
